Allina Health and Aetna Insurance Company have tapped a Molina executive to lead their jointly-owned health care company that was established in January 2017.
Tom Lindquist will join as the CEO of Allina Health-Aetna. He comes from Molina Healthcare’s South Carolina plan where he served as president, responsible for strategic planning, profit and loss management, contract negotiations and government relations.
Before joining Molina in 2013, Lindquist was the president of AccentCare in Texas, where he led strategy and operations and was responsible for over 10,000 employees in Medicare, personal care and hospice organizations throughout the state. Lindquist also held leadership positions for UnitedHealthcare in Minnesota, Texas and Louisiana; Ochsner Health Plan, and Memorial Sisters of Charity.
In his new role, Lindquist’s immediate priorities will be on building a management team, finalizing product offerings and launching an integrated digital portal experience. Over the long term, his focus will be on growing Allina Health-Aetna geographically and developing a differentiated member experience. He will report to the Allina Health-Aetna board.
The company expects to roll out a number of fully insured and self-insured commercial products starting April 1, 2018, with Medicare and other products to follow, pending regulatory approvals.
“After a comprehensive search process, we believe we have found the best individual to assume leadership of Allina Health-Aetna," said Dan Finke, senior vice president of clinical services and joint venture markets for Aetna. "Tom has the right tool set and experience in the health insurance industry to guide the company to success in the years to come.”
Ben Bache-Wiig, MD, EVP of Allina Health and chair of the Allina Health-Aetna board of directors, added: “We are thrilled to have Tom join Allina Health-Aetna. We look forward to Tom leading the organization as we bring innovative insurance products to market which provide unparalleled care coordination, ease of access and streamlined processes to our members.”
