Alegeus, which operates in consumer directed healthcare (CDH) solutions, has appointed John Young as senior vice president of consumerism and strategy.

In this role, Young will drive strategic initiatives to differentiate the company’s platform and capabilities to help consumers maximize savings and optimize spending for their healthcare.

“John is an expert in all things consumer driven healthcare,” said Steven Auerbach, Alegeus CEO. “He will use his extensive experience to create, communicate, and execute strategic initiatives that will strengthen our market position and accelerate our next phase of growth. We are confident that Young’s leadership will keep Alegeus at the forefront of the healthcare consumerism movement.”

Young has been an active member of the employee benefits industry for more than three decades and has spent the last 16 years as a devoted champion for healthcare consumerism – most recently through his own consultancy, ConsumerDriven.

Prior to that, Young also served as Senior Vice President of Consumerism for Cigna Healthcare, and he currently advocates for consumer driven healthcare alongside the HSA Council of the American Banking Association.

“With my background in healthcare consumerism, I’ve been familiar with Alegeus since its early days,” said Young. “It is clear that Alegeus is an innovative company that is helping to reshape the healthcare experience for consumers. With its market-leading benefit account platform, strong leadership, and the tremendous market opportunity, it is an exciting time to join this winning team.”
