Health insurer Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Indiana has appointed Kimberly Roop as president of its Medicaid plan.

Roop most recently held the position of regional vice president and medical director at Anthem and succeeds Kristen Metzger, who is assuming an expanded role within the organization as president, Medicaid central region.

In her new role, Roop will be responsible for all aspects of health plan operations, including strategic planning, provider contracting, member quality and outreach, access and coordination of medical services and plan performance.

Roop joined Anthem eleven years ago and has held several positions at the company. In her most recent role, Roop worked on a variety of programs designed to improve the quality of care and service to Anthem’s Medicaid members.

“Kimberly has been a key member of the Anthem team since we began serving Indiana Medicaid consumers in 2007 and she is well-positioned to facilitate a seamless transition of leadership,” said Metzger. “Kimberly has played a significant role in the implementation of the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) 2.0 Medicaid program and I have the utmost confidence in her ability to lead a team dedicated to ensuring consumers continue to have access to our healthcare plans.”

Roop commented: “For more than a decade, the Anthem Medicaid business has been dedicated to providing Hoosiers access to excellent healthcare services and support programs. As someone who has devoted their career to helping others, I’m excited to lead a team that works tirelessly to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of consumers. By utilizing our innovative approach to care delivery, I am confident that we will successfully meet the needs of our consumers, care providers and state partners.”
