Bon Secours New York Health System (BSNY) has appointed Joanne Smith as director of risk management, quality improvement, and corporate responsibility at Schervier Nursing Care Center, located in the Riverdale section of The Bronx.
Smith will be responsible for developing and executing the facility’s performance improvement plans, and monitoring compliance with licensing and regulatory agencies. She will also be responsible for directing the risk management program, and will play a key role in ensuring quality care is provided to each resident and patient.
“Joanne brings a wealth of knowledge to Bon Secours New York Health System and is already acquainted with our mission and embodies our core values, having more than 11 years of experience with our Charity System,” said Carlos Beato, CEO of BSNY.
“Her long list of significant accomplishments and leadership roles in the industry, coupled with her unique understanding for risk management, made her the perfect candidate. We look forward to her leadership and insights to help us maintain and continue to improve the high level of expertise we have in these areas.”
Smith joins the BSNY team with more than 38 years of experience in the healthcare landscape, with past positions specializing in nursing, risk management, patient safety, and administrative work. Prior to her new position at BSNY, Smith served as Senior Risk Manager/Patient Safety Officer for Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and New York Health System.
