CAPAssurance medical liability protection expands availability

18-09-2014

CAPAssurance, the risk purchasing group program offered by the Cooperative of American Physicians (CAP), is now available to hospitals, medical facilities, and large physician groups in Arizona, Washington, Oregon, and Nevada.

CAPAssurance was designed to meet the unique liability protection needs of health care facilities and was initially introduced to California-based organizations in March 2013.

"CAPAssurance has seen tremendous success in California over the last 17 months, and we responded to market demand by expanding our offering," said Cindy Belcher, CAP's chief operating officer. "Health care facilities and large physician groups need products, tools and consultative services to manage change and protect their organizations and patients in this new health care environment. The CAPAssurance program was designed not only to provide superior protection, but to reduce risk and improve patient safety."

CAPAssurance provides access to proactive liability and risk management services, including CAP's expert risk management and patient safety team, which assists hospitals, medical groups, and other health care facilities with the design of customized educational programs and assessments targeted at high risk processes to help foster a culture of safety and decrease risk within the organization.

"We bring a consultative, partner-like approach to helping increase the effectiveness of in-house risk management activities," said Belcher. "The ultimate mission of the CAPAssurance program is to offer financially stable and customizable liability protection, while helping transform health care providers and facilities into highly reliable organizations where safety is top-of-mind for all staff and physicians."
