CloudMedx showcases latest version of analytics platform

CloudMedx, a big data health analytics company, has showcased a new version of its analytics platform that provides real-time visual insights and predictive analytics around population clinical risk and outcomes based on machine learning and natural language processing.

The firm said the new capabilities are ideal for healthcare organizations that are looking to deliver higher quality care and increased revenue through unmatched insights into patient risk and improved treatment.

The CloudMedx analytics platform can process both structured and unstructured data from healthcare workflows including medical labs, pharmacies and hospitals to capture all relevant clinical and financial information at the point of care. This information is then shared with all necessary healthcare participants across the continuum.

Using predictive risk analyses, CloudMedx helps physicians identify people who are at risk for costly, debilitating illnesses in time for intervention and one-on-one support that can help them reverse their risk or minimize their potential for serious complications. It also helps address a number of challenges that medical care organizations face including avoidable readmissions, capturing bonus payments, value-based payment programs and predictive population health management.

New to CloudMedx's platform is patient clinical risk scoring that provides enhanced risk stratification and adjustment. Using this score the system can predict patient length of stay and anticipate readmissions, as well as reduce gaps in care and improve care coordination. This requires the proper identification of patient risk and countering it using advanced analytical tools.

The CloudMedx application program interfaces (APIs) integrate with existing healthcare IT workflows and use natural language processing and machine learning on clinical notes to produce a multi-dimensional assessment of patient risk. It delivers real and measurable value to healthcare organizations as provider quality and performance are now tied directly to the reimbursements, bonus payments, and incentives provided by Medicare and commercial health plans.

CloudMedx is working with a number of healthcare providers including Southeast Michigan Accountable Care (SEMAC), an accountable care organization (ACO). With 320 physicians and health care professionals, SEMAC selected CloudMedx to significantly reduce readmissions and capture shared savings for its patient beneficiaries. SEMAC's goal is to generate additional savings from its Medicare Shared Savings Program for patients with diabetes, congestive heart failure (CHF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Anthony Vespa, executive director of SEMAC, said: "SEMAC was created by private practice physicians to deliver the right care at the right time in the right setting in order to improve the delivery of healthcare, and CloudMedx is an ideal solution for furthering our mission.

"The CloudMedx platform provides real-time clinical and quality outcomes from which we can benchmark our organization throughout the year and pro-actively engage with our patient population to improve outcomes as they become necessary."

Tashfeen Suleman, co-founder and chief executive officer of CloudMedx, said: "CloudMedx is proud to be serving a growing number of the top performing accountable care organizations including SEMAC. Using CloudMedx, our customers can consistently address key issues with their patient beneficiaries, including chronic disease management and risk spotting.

“With early detection, we are able to close gaps and capture quality scores that are the yardstick for measuring ACO performance."
