Denver Health Medical Plan (DHMP), a non-profit organization that provides health insurance to Medicaid members, has appointed Greg McCarthy as its new chief executive officer.

Before joining Denver Health, McCarthy spent 13 years at Martin’s Point Health Care in Portland, Maine, most recently as senior vice president of health plan operations. Previously, he has also served as vice president of operations for Community Health Options, based in Lewiston, Maine.

"Greg McCarthy has solid experience in all aspects of health plan operations and demonstrated accomplishments as a senior leader," said Peg Burnette, chief financial officer at Denver Health. "We are confident in his ability to move the DHMP business forward, supporting growth and financial viability, while remaining focused on the Denver Health mission to provide high quality health care for all."

McCarthy added: "This is an important time at Denver Health Medical Plan in terms of growing the organization to the next level while navigating the changes taking place in health care today.

"Our focus in the months ahead will be to improve operations, supporting stability and growth, while continuing to align the health plans with the larger Denver Health system to enhance our ability to care for our members."
