Dictation-based EHR certified by federal agency

The dictation-based M2PRO HER product from Medical Mime has earned Meaningful Use Stage 2 certification as a complete ambulatory EHR from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).

The designation means Medical Mime's program conforms to the standards and certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). The designation also means that Medical Mime's EHR is included on the Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL), known as Chapel.

The certification provides assurance to providers that the EHR meets the technological capability, functionality, and security requirements adopted by HHS. Certification also gives providers - and patients - confidence that M2PRO is secure and meets standards for interoperability, which is the capability for one software system to work with other systems to share information.

"We have always known that Medical Mime's M2PRO is a robust product for physicians and other providers who practice in outpatient settings. However, designation from the ONC and inclusion on its product list is the ultimate endorsement," said Seamus Lagan, chief executive officer (CEO) of Medical Mime's parent company, Rennova Health.

"In addition, this designation will likely translate into increased product demand and market share, not only among those provider categories where we have historically done well, but also among the wider physician universe."

Unlike all other EHRs listed by CHPL, Medical Mime is wholly dictation-based and takes advantage of the most advanced speech recognition tools and natural language software to process physician's notes.

Entering details of a patient encounter using dictation, instead of clicks on a mouse pad or touch screen, has demonstrated itself to be a faster and easier method of recording health information.

"We're gratified to learn that our product has made the cut to be included among this elite group," said David Cooper, director of sales of Medical Mime. "It's a testament to the efficacy of our dictation-based approach to managing health records and confirmation that ease-of-use for doctors is a top priority."

Certification was conducted by Drummond Group, an independent testing and certification company recognized by the ONC.
