HealthEC, a single-platform population health management company, has appointed Nan Hayworth to its board of directors.
Hayworth will assist HealthEC in improving the lives of patients through the application of population health management technology.
Hayworth is the first female physician in Congress, and represented New York's 19th congressional district in the 112th Congress.
She supported the repeal and replacement of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and was selected to serve on the House Committee on Financial Services that oversees the entire financial services industry, including securities, insurance, banking and housing.
Hayworth previously served as a partner at Mount Kisco Medical Group (now CareMount Medical), where she served as partner until her retirement in 2005. Here she helped develop the practice’s electronic medical records system.
"Dr. Hayworth brings a deep understanding of health reform at the local and national level through her career in medical practice and her work in Congress," said Arthur Kapoor, HealthEC's CEO and president.
"While identifying with the pain of physician marginalization and burdensome regulation, Dr. Hayworth is optimistic about the future of healthcare's new payment models—particularly a doctor's ability to deliver excellent care through participation in value-based contracts. We are fortunate to have her join our organization."
Hayworth commented: "I look forward to working with HealthEC's board of directors in helping the company meet and adjust to providers' changing needs during a time of costly, complex regulation focused on compliance rather than patient care.
"It's exciting to be part of an organization dedicated to developing solutions that empower physicians and provider organizations alike. Our mutual goal is to improve the cost-effectiveness and quality of care of higher-risk patients, as well as entire populations."
