The Global Healthy Living Foundation (GHLF), a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for people living with chronic illnesses, has stated that it fully supports health insurance companies’ access to the subsidies allocated in the Affordable Care Act that guarantee health coverage and believes this reduces costs for insurers and patients.

“Just as we fight for greater access to care for patients, we will fight for the health insurance industry’s access to these promised subsidies so they can continue to provide this vital link in the US healthcare delivery system,” said Global Healthy Living Foundation co-founders Seth Ginsberg, president, and Louis Tharp, executive director, in a joint statement.

“This integral part of the Affordable Care Act that reduces costs for insurers as well as patients helps keep premiums low,” the GHLF executives said, “and without it we predict that premiums will skyrocket and insurers will be forced out of the individual insurance market.

“There are improvements that need to be made to the Affordable Care Act, and we are relying on cooler heads in Washington to do the hard work of making healthcare better for all Americans. We will continue to work with all parties to help make this happen.”
