GU Texas adds bachelor's degree in healthcare management

Western Governors University (WGU), parent university of WGU Texas, has added a new degree program aimed at preparing healthcare professionals for management roles. 

The Bachelor of Science in Business—Healthcare Management is designed for working business and healthcare professionals who need to earn a bachelor's degree to advance their careers. 

This new degree program, which is online and competency-based, will equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to serve in a variety of leadership roles at a wide range of healthcare-related organizations and facilities, including hospitals, physician offices, skilled nursing facilities, healthcare facilities, accountable care organizations, insurance companies, and community health organizations.

Coursework will include general education and business curriculum as well as healthcare-specific topics such as delivery systems, regulation, and compliance; ethics; financial management; technology applications; quality improvement; and risk management. 

The program curriculum was developed in collaboration with seminal healthcare leaders from major employers such as HCA Healthcare, NorthShore University HealthSystem, and Accolade.

Like all WGU Texas degree programs, this new program is online and competency-based.
