HITRUST CSF certifies TigerText for information security

TigerText, a healthcare messaging provider, has been approved for providing secure information by the Health Information Trust (HITRUST) Alliance CSF.

The HITRUST CSF Certified Status confirms that TigerText meets the key healthcare regulations and requirements for protecting and securing confidential and sensitive healthcare information.

CSF Certified Status proves that the company has met industry-defined requirements and is appropriately managing risk.

By adding federal and state regulations, standards and frameworks, and incorporating a risk-based approach, the HITRUST CSF helps companies focus on these challenges through a comprehensive and flexible framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls.

HITRUST-certified vendors provide healthcare organizations several benefits such as a defined set of controls founded on industry best practices, simpler, less costly audits and faster RFP vetting for certified vendors.

To complete the HITRUST CSF Certification program successfully, vendors must go through a rigorous and thorough vetting process consisting of 172 baseline controls across 19 domains, over many months and requiring more than 500 written ratings and responses.

Also, vendors must undergo recertification every couple of years, which is one of the highlights of the HITRUST CSF program, assuring buyers that the security model of any HITRUST vendor is keeping pace with the latest industry advancements.

“HITRUST is the gold standard for healthcare security certifications, and we are honored to be the first in our category to earn this distinction,” said Brad Brooks, co-founder and chief executive officer of TigerText.

“With today’s hospitals under a perpetual threat of cyber attack, every customer wants verification that the vendor they are choosing can be trusted to keep patient information safe, and now TigerText can deliver that added peace of mind to our broad base of customers.”

Ken Vander Wal, chief compliance officer of HITRUST, said: “The HITRUST CSF has become the information protection framework for the healthcare industry, and the CSF Assurance program is bringing a new level of effectiveness and efficiency to third-party assurance.

“The CSF Certification is now the benchmark that organizations were required to safeguard. PHI are measured against with regards to information protection.”
