Hylant, an insurance broker, has appointed Spencer Timmel as the first vice president (VP) of its cyber & technology risk practice division.

Timmel speaks regularly on network security and privacy liability topics. He shared his insights with the United States Treasury, American Bar Association, Association for Corporate Growth, Financial Executives International, Risk Insurance Management Society, Healthcare Financial Management Association and the NetDiligence Cyber Risk Liability Forum.

In this role, Timmel provides consultative support to clients for data privacy risk management and manages the placement of cyber, privacy and technology insurance coverage.

Prior to joining Hylant, Timmel was an executive protection underwriter for Chubb and Cincinnati Insurance.

“Spencer was one of the early adopters focusing on cyber security, and his leadership will allow Hylant to provide an integrated approach to manage cyber security and technology risks,” Kevin O’Donnell, senior vice president risk practices, said.

“The promotion of Spencer to lead this practice comes at a time when the market is significantly expanding and, as we see, cyber-related events are occurring ever more frequently in both magnitude and severity,” he added.
