ID Experts, a provider of software and services for cyber breach and identity fraud protection, has hired Brent VanLoo as chief technology officer.

The hire will allow the company to accelerate the development of technologies that address identity theft protection risks facing healthcare, retail, government, insurance, and education, it said.

"In 2016, record numbers of people had their identities stolen creating unprecedented demand for our technology and identity protection services," said Bob Gregg, CEO of ID Experts. "As a security engineering visionary with healthcare domain expertise, Brent VanLoo will advance our ability to apply innovative technologies to address cyber and identity risks."

VanLoo's leadership encompasses 20 years of technology experience in software, security, and healthcare companies including HealthSparq, Symantec Corporation, Sage Software, and Lucent Technologies/Bell Labs Innovations.

His career spans product design and development, bringing new technologies to market, and product management. Most recently at HealthSparq, VanLoo built from the ground up a consumer healthcare shopping platform, propelling the company to be one of the top five fastest growing Oregon companies two years in a row. As director of engineering at Symantec Corporation, VanLoo led the US and China development and QA teams for Endpoint Security products including Antivirus, Network Access Control, and Mobile Security.

"My passion is developing software that solves real problems," said VanLoo. "The opportunity to work with ID Experts will leverage my experience in healthcare, security and SaaS software to bring to market new and innovative solutions that will mitigate the risks to individuals, whose identities have been stolen."
