Ironshore, the international insurer, has entered the Bermuda healthcare market with the appointment of Susan Pateras. She joins as senior vice president and healthcare practice leader of Iron-Starr, Ironshore’s managing general agent.

Pateras joins from Integro Insurance Brokers. Iron-Starr will provide insurance protection for a broad range of clients, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, miscellaneous medical facilities, managed care operators, life science organizations, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, and various allied and physician groups.

“Bermuda is an exceptionally important market for healthcare entities and brokers seeking innovative product solutions to manage risk exposures within this specialty market sector,” said Stuart Anderson, chief executive officer of Iron-Starr.  “Susan has considerable experience in the global healthcare market and will enable Iron-Starr to provide a comprehensive suite of products to the Bermuda and international markets.”

Pateras joins Iron-Starr from Integro Insurance Brokers, where she was responsible for building the healthcare practice for the Bermuda office and coordinating global placements with the US, London and European markets. Prior to joining Integro, she served as senior vice president with Willis Bermuda and as a vice president in the Global Brokering Healthcare Unit for Marsh in New York. She has also worked as an underwriter with Zurich and St. Paul.

“Iron-Starr’s expansion into the Bermuda healthcare market is the logical next step for our continued growth. Providing separate capacity to healthcare entities and their brokers within the Ironshore Group of Companies enhances our existing strong brand and appetite within this market segment,” continued Anderson.
