Medical Mutual, a health insurer based in Ohio, has appointed Andrea Hogben as its senior vice president (SVP) of strategic communications, effective August 29.

Hogben will report to Jared Chaney, executive vice president and chief communications officer, who is to retire in August 2017.

“I am ecstatic that Andrea is joining us and will lead our communications areas once Jared retires next summer. She will be a great addition to my executive team,” said Rick Chiricosta, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Medical Mutual.

Prior to Medical Mutual, Hogben worked at the Cleveland Plain Dealer for 22 years that culminated with her serving for three years as President of the Northeast Ohio Media Group (NOMG)

In her time at NOMG she held a range of positions there, including SVP of sales and marketing. She serves on the boards of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the United Way of Greater Cleveland, and was most recently co-chair of the marketing and content committee for the Republican National Convention Host Committee.

Hogben said: “I've always been impressed by the impact Medical Mutual has in our community and I have a tremendous amount of respect for the leadership team. It’s an understatement to say that I'm thrilled to become part of it."
