07-08-2014

Dr Keith Wilson has been named chief medical officer for Molina Healthcare.

In this role, Wilson will be responsible for establishing clinical policy and oversight of medical management functions of all the company’s health plan subsidiaries, including utilization management, quality improvement, pharmacy and risk management activities.

He was previously the vice president of clinical services for the Molina Medical Group clinics and American Family Care.

“I’m very pleased that Dr Wilson has accepted the chief medical officer position,” said Terry Bayer, chief operating officer of Molina Healthcare. “As our membership grows and we serve more patients with complex medical needs, it is important that we further integrate our efforts with providers. Dr Wilson’s track record in leading physician practices and caring for sicker patients, in addition to his managed care experience, will be invaluable.”

Wilson has nearly 30 years of experience in the health care industry. Prior to joining Molina Healthcare in March 2013, he served as a regional medical director with HealthCare Partners. Prior to that, he was president and chief executive officer of Talbert Medical Group until he arranged the group’s merger with HealthCare Partners.

Wilson is an active board member and past chairman of the Financial Solvency Standards Board for the State of California’s Department of Managed Care, past chairman of the California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG), and past board member of the Spencer Hospice Foundation. He currently sits on the CAPG Public Policy committee and is a member of the American Medical Association, National Medical Association, and the Orange County Medical Association. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
